GOP Establishment Launches New Plan To Steal Nomination From Trump AT The Convention

For a few weeks after Donald Trump became the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, it looked like the Republican establishment was finally getting behind him. Now, however, they have launched a new plan to take him out at the convention and steal the nomination from him at the last minute.

We can only hope this plan fails…

Now, however, The Washington Post reported that in the wake of Trump’s attacks on the judge overseeing his Trump university lawsuit and his response to the Orlando terror attack, dozens of Republican delegates are banding together to stop Trump once again.

The delegates are hoping to change the rules at the Republican convention in order to allow delegates who are bound to Trump to vote for someone else because of their conscience.

This so-called “conscience clause” would essentially tell the millions of people who voted for Trump that the party thinks is knows better and is willing to defy them.

“This literally is an ‘Anybody but Trump’ movement,” explained Kendal Unruh, a Republican delegate from Colorado. “Nobody has any idea who is going to step in and be the nominee, but we’re not worried about that. We’re just doing that job to make sure that he’s not the face of our party.”

There is almost no chance that these delegates will actually be able to get the “conscience clause” passed, but their continued efforts to stop Trump show just how deeply they hate him.

“All of the discussion about the RNC Rules Committee acting to undermine the presumptive nominee is silly. There is no organized effort, strategy or leader of this so-called movement. It is nothing more than a media creation and a series of tweets,” said Republican National Committee spokesman Sean Spicer, pushing back on the idea that there was a conspiracy to stop Trump.

While people may not like Trump, the American people did vote for him to be the Republican nominee. The Republican establishment needs to accept that it happened, even if it turns out to be a bad thing, and let democracy work.

Otherwise, they might as well just join the Democrats.
