BREAKING: Devastating Terrorist Attack Rocks The Globe – Please Send Prayers
Weeks after the devastating terrorist attack in Orlando that left 49 people dead, the world has been rocked by yet another terrorist attack.
Police in the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka are currently engaged in a shootout with a group of gunmen who have taken hostages in a restaurant in the diplomatic quarter of the city.
Daily Mail reported that as many as nine gunmen entered the restaurant Friday night, firing at least 50 shots as they hurled makeshift bombs. The restaurant is located in the upscale Gulshan area of the capital and is especially popular among foreigners. At least three police officers have been injured in the shootout so far, and they are now preparing to enter the restaurant by force.
“They blasted several crude bombs, causing wide-scale panic among everyone,” one staffer who escaped told The Daily Star. “I managed to flee during this confusion. They came armed with pistols, swords and bombs. They shouted Allahu Akbar [God is great] before blasting the bombs.”
The staffer went on to say that an Argentinian and an Italian were among the hostages, but this has not yet been confirmed.
On their Twitter feed, the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka said there were “reports of shooting and hostage situation” and urged everyone in the area to “please shelter in place and monitor news.”
