McCain Spits On Trump’s Face, Issues Him A Warning About THIS… [DETAILS]
Donald Trump has been criticized for his deplorable comments about Senator John McCain and his prisoner of war status. McCain has likewise castigated President Elect Trump for being in favor of and promoting the idea of waterboarding our enemies during war. Despite Trump’s win McCain is not backing down from this belief.
At the Halifax International Security Forum McCain told reporters,
“I don’t give a damn what the president of the United States wants to do … we will not waterboard. If they started waterboarding, I swear to you that we’d have them in court in a New York minute.”
He means business because it certainly sounds like he is serious and not playing around. His New York comment could definitely be a nice pun on Donald Trump’s heritage and New York background. This issue is one that McCain has never wavered on. He has always been a staunch opponent of waterboarding as he was held for five years during the Vietnam War as a prisoner of war.
Trump during his campaign said they would use any means necessary to get the intelligence data they needed. Including but not limited to waterboarding. McCain and others have called it a war crime and branded it as an ineffective tool of war.
Furthermore, McCain said that waterboarding is a form of torture and not one that is representative of what the United States of America stands for or is all about. Both the President Bush and President Obama administrations imposed bans on the practice. One President a Republican and the other a Democrat.
Clearly this is not a party issue but an issue of conscious that both parties can actually agree on. And one they have in the past. This is perhaps one area where the status quo would be just fine the way it is.
