Throughout his presidency, Barack Hussein Obama has made no secret of the fact that he has no respect for members of the American military. Now, one military member is fighting back in a big way.
According to Young Conservatives, 28 year-old Army Captain Nathan Michael Smith filed a lawsuit against Obama on Wednesday accusing the president of engaging in an “illegal war” against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
Smith, who is currently deployed to Kuwait as an intelligence officer at Camp Arifjan, claims in his lawsuit that Obama lacks the proper authorization for his campaign against ISIS because he hasn’t gotten the congressional authorization under the War Powers Resolution of 1973.
Our Constitution states that only Congress has the authority to declare war, and the War Powers Resolution limits the president’s ability to send our forces into hostile situations for more than 60 days without getting congressional approval.
