Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has found himself in hot water this week after he was caught on camera elbowing a female opposition member of Parliament in the chest as he waded through a group of her colleagues.
According to Daily Mail, Ruth Ellen Brosseau told the press that the altercation forced her to miss a vote in the House of Commons on Wednesday as she had to leave the chamber.
“I was elbowed in the chest by the prime minister and then I had to leave. It was very overwhelming,” she said. “I missed the vote because of this.”
Some reports say Trudeau shouted “get the f*ck out of the way” as he elbowed her. Members of the opposition have since spoken out to slam the prime minister as “violent” and “unsportsmanlike.”
Trudeau has since apologized for the incident.
“I admit that I came in physical contact with a number of members as I extended my arm, including someone behind me whom I did not see. I certainly did not intend to offend or impact on anyone,” Trudeau said. “I apologize for that unreservedly and I look for opportunities to make amends.”
