Days after the worst massacre in US history left 49 people dead at the hand of an Islamic terrorist, the city of Orlando, Florida has been rocked by yet another tragedy.
According to Daily Mail, a two year-old boy is missing after being dragged into a lagoon by an alligator at the Walt Disney World resort. The boy was attacked by the crocodile outside the upscale Grand Floridian Resort & Spa around 9:20pm as he paddled in a foot of water with his parents and four-year-old sister. The family was swimming in the area despite the many “no swimming” signs that were nearby.
When the reptile grabbed the boy, the child’s father unsuccessfully tried to wrestle the alligator in an attempt to rescue his son, leaving him with lacerations in his arm. The local sheriff said there is little hope of finding the boy alive at this point.
Nick Wiley from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation told reporters that his organization works closely with Disney World to remove all nuisance alligators from their grounds. He added that four alligators have been removed and tested for evidence since the search began, and the reptiles were then killed.
Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said the toddler was part of a family of five, and he arrived with his family from Nebraska on Sunday for vacation. The family has not yet been identified at this time.
Please keep this little boy and his family in your thoughts and prayers. We will update you further as this story develops.
