The U.S. House’s Oversight and Government Reform Committee just made a major move towards impeaching a member of the Obama administration when they passed a resolution which officially censures IRS Commissioner John Koskinen.
The vote passed by 23-15 down party lines, and it occurred just one week before the official hearing on Koskinen’s impeachment. According to The Political Insider, Koskinen is about to be exposed for the false statements he made under oath when questions were raised about the IRS unfairly targeting Tea Party and conservative groups.
“The Resolution expresses the sense of the House that Mr. Koskinen engaged in a pattern of conduct inconsistent with the trust and confidence placed in him as an Officer of the United States, urges Mr. Koskinen’s resignation or removal, and requires forfeiture of his government pension and any other federal benefits for which he is eligible,” the Committee released Wednesday.
It’s blatantly obvious that Barack Obama worked closely with the IRS to intimidate conservatives into silence. Koskinen was hired by the president to handle the aftermath of this.
At the hearing next week, impeachment will be taken up by the Senate Republican leadership. While we wish it was Obama himself who was up for impeachment, we’ll take whatever we can get at this point.
