Fans all over the world are praying this morning after singer Meat Loaf collapsed onstage Thursday night while performing in Canada. This came days after he cancelled another concert because of an illness.
The Texas-native singer, born Michael Lee Aday, was performing “I’ll Do Anything For Love” at the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton when he suddenly fell to the floor. According to Daily Mail, he fell just before 9:40pm, and the incident was captured in numerous videos. His representatives say that Meat Loaf suffers from a rare heart condition.
Representatives for the 68 year-old said on Friday morning that he is in “stable and in good condition,” but that he is still hospitalized.
Meat Loaf suffers from Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a rare condition that causes an irregular heartbeat. It caused him to collapse onstage twice onstage in the past, in 2011 and 2003 respectively.
Fans recalled that it looked like something was wrong from the beginning of the concert.
“It was him forgetting words, he wasn’t on cue, but it was forgivable,” said fan Mikey McBryan, 33. “We’re all loving it and going crazy, and then it just took a turn for the worst.”
“I didn’t know if it was real. All of the band stopped playing instantly,” Lotta Shandalla told the the Edmonton Journal.
Meat Loaf had cancelled two other concerts this week in Moose Jaw on Saturday and in Calgary on Tuesday due to ill health. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he recovers from this!
