With the Republican National Convention just a few weeks away, Donald Trump is currently vetting a series of potential Vice Presidential candidates. One of the people he is considering to be his running mate has come as a surprise to his supporters.
Citing unspecified sources, NBC News has reported that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is one of the people being considered, and that he is scheduled to meet with Trump on Friday. A social conservative, the governor might help win over conservatives who are skeptical of Trump on social issues if he is chosen.
“Gov. Pence has accepted an invitation to spend a little time with Mr. Trump this weekend,” NBC News reported, according to Western Journalism. “That is consistent with meetings that Mr. Trump is holding with many key party leaders.”
“You’d have to talk to their campaign about who they’re looking at or who they’re not looking at. I’ll cut to the chase,” Pence told reporters on Thursday. “I haven’t spoken to Donald Trump since before the Indiana primary and I certainly have never spoken to him about that topic.”
In addition to Pence, Trump is reportedly vetting former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Who do you think he should choose? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
