One person was killed and multiple people were injured on Thursday morning when a gunman opened fire at a hotel in eastern Tennessee.
Western Journalism reported that newspaper carrier Jennifer Rooney, 44, was shot dead as she was driving to pick up papers for the Bristol Herald-Courier. According to ABC News, her vehicle careened over an embankment after she was shot.
The gunman also injured at least two other motorists driving on the Volunteer Parkway near the Days Inn hotel in Bristol, a town located right near the Virginia border.

Police were quick to apprehend the shooter, who was armed with at least two weapons. He opened fire on officers before he was shot, injuring one of them. The officer was treated at the hospital and has already been released.
The suspect was shot himself when police returned fire on him, but he is expected to recover.
