Weeks after the deadly terrorist attack in Nice, the country of France is living in daily fear of more attacks. This week, many feared their most precious landmark had been targeted when a suspicious package was found at the Eiffel Tower.
The monument was promptly evacuated as the military and bomb squad searched the premises.
The reason for the evacuation is not yet known but some people at the scene reported that a “suspicious” package is the cause.
Visitors have posted pictures on social media of armed police cordoning off the entrance area.
Visitors were ordered away from France’s most famous building as heavily armed cops descended on one of the world’s most popular tourism sites.
It comes a month after the Parisian landmark was engulfed under black smoke on the same night as the Nice attacks.
