Fox News fans were stunned earlier this summer when Fox News CEO Roger Ailes was accused of sexual harassment by host Gretchen Carlson. Now, host Andrea Tantaros has accused Ailes of harassing her as well.
According to New York Magazine, Tantaros claims that she was taken off the air after she complained to Fox executives about Ailes’ behavior multiple times in 2015. Her lawyer, Judd Burstein, said that both Tantaros and her agent told Fox executive vice-president Bill Shine, senior vice-president Suzanne Scott, and general counsel Dianne Brandi about the harassment she suffered at Ailes’ hands.
“She made multiple harassment and hostile-workplace complaints,” Burstein said.
Tantaros claims she was first sexually harassed by Ailes during a meeting in his office on August 12, 2014 when he asked her to “do the twirl” so he could see her figure, but she said no. Then, during a meeting in December, Ailes once again made an advance.
“Ailes asked her to turn around, and then he said, ‘Come over here so I can give you a hug,'” Burstein said, adding that Tantaros once again rebuffed the advance.
Tantaros was taken off the air of her show Outnumbered on Fox in February of this year. Though she is violating her contract with Fox by speaking out, Burstein said “she doesn’t have the same fear of being attacked by the Fox PR machine, and the Murdochs have made it clear they want to clean up the place.”
