During the first presidential debate on Monday night, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton battled over how to handle violent crime in our communities.
While Trump argued that statistics showed an increase in violent crime and that our elected officials should stop making things difficult for police, Clinton claimed that Trump was wrong about this increase in crime. An FBI report that was just released, however, proves that Trump was actually right.
According to Conservative Tribune, the FBI found that the murder rate in the United States went up by 10% in 2015 from the year before, while all “violent crime” had increased by nearly 4 percent in the same period. The Washington Post reported that the 2015 numbers were actually the highest estimated violent crime rate in three years.
Though Clinton may have been right that crime is lower now than in some previous decades, this doesn’t change the fact that we have seen a disturbing increase in crime in recent years. FBI Director James B. Comey said that the fact that crime is lower now than it was in the late 1980s and early 1990s was of “little comfort” to him.
“Something people say to me, ‘Well, the increases are off of historic lows,’” Comey explained. “How does that make any of us feel any better? I mean, a whole lot more people are dying this year than last year, and last year than the year before, and I don’t know why for sure.”
The truth is that Barack Obama and his liberal minions, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, have done nothing but exacerbate the problems in cities where violent crime has ravaged communities. Once again, Trump was proven right…
