Megyn Kelly talked with Erik Wemple of the Washington Post about her future with the Fox News network and whether she wanted to stay on with them or not. She insisted she had great options and would neither confirm or deny a stay or move from Fox News. Her contract expires in the summer of 2017.
Kelly maintained she felt humbled to recieve offers from other television networks prior to the end of her contract. Rumored reports show that CNN, ABC, and NBC all are trying to get her on their networks. Many think she will move because ABC and NBC are considered the gold standard networks for reporters. She said,
“I don’t see myself as some television star, I see myself as a girl from Albany. So it’s a great business; it’s a dream job. And I’m very glad that I have chance to work here, whether it’s at Fox or another channel. Hard to get a job in TV news, so I haven’t lost sight of that.”
She also said that she was dismayed overhe speculation of her exist and refused to comment on reports of the bidding wars between potential networks who wanted her. But she has confirmed she received another very generous offer from her current boss Lachlan Murdock who took over after Ailes removal. It’s alleged that it is in the $20 million range.
In the future wherever she ends up she says she wants to make her work life balance better and spend more time with her kids despite the fact that Fox News has been very generous to her in regards to making time for family. She said,
“I want to see my kids for dinner, I want to put them down at night, I want to see their soccer games after school. I want to get to know the parents who take their kids to some of these events, and not all the time. We all feel that to some extent, but my problem in my current role is I see them in the morning and . . . I take them to school but unless there’s a school event that I can attend, I might not see them at all for the rest of the day until they’re sleeping in their beds at night.”
This was weeks after reports from Fox News insiders insist they are sick of Kelly and want her gone because of the drama surrounding her. Whether it be the bidding wars, the Ailes sexual harassment case or her feud with Donald Trump. The source said,
“Everybody in the building is sick of it. We absolutely can’t stand it anymore. Go. We don’t care. Leave. You want to be friends with Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon? Go to CNN. Have fun.”
Looks like there is trouble in paradise.
