Roger Ailes has been prepping Fox Business Network host Trish Regan as a possible replacement for Megyn Kelly, according to a Business Insider report.
Regan was “personally prepared” by Ailes to take over Kelly’s 9 p.m. time slot in the event it opened, which it now has.
Ailes, the former Fox News chairman and CEO, left his post last summer after being accused of sexual harassment by Kelly and other women at Fox. Citing “multiple sources,” Business Insider said Ailes began working with Regan as Kelly entered contract negotiations in early 2016.
Kelly announced Tuesday that she would leave Fox to take a position at NBC News. Her last show will be on Friday. Her contract with the network expires over the summer.
Regan, a former MSNBC, CNBC and Bloomberg star who came to the Fox Business Network in 2015, is considered the possible successor to Kelly.
