According to Reuters, Donald Trump’s transition team has requested copies of every single executive order on immigration since Obama took office. It is thought to be the initial step toward reforming immigration in America and possibly deporting thousands of illegal aliens.
Under the Obama administration, illegal aliens who signed up for amnesty gave the government their personal information, including addresses, identities, and admission that they’re in the country illegally. Having this information could prove extremely valuable if Trump wants to find these individuals and deport them.
The team also asked about the department’s capacity for expanding immigrant detention and about an aerial surveillance program that was scaled back by the Obama administration but remains popular with immigration hardliners. And it asked whether federal workers have altered biographic information kept by the department about immigrants out of concern for their civil liberties.
Border security and immigration reform were major topics during Trump’s campaign days. He was also endorsed by ICE for his strong stance on securing America’s border and building a massive southern wall.
The reports the team has requested also detail the exact area where building a wall will be feasible since some of the southern border already has a natural barrier to immigration. If indeed Trump decides to establish a mass deportation system, it would be a historical first for America.
Do you think this is a positive step forward in the war against illegal immigration?
