One of Hillary Clinton’s many insults against President-Elect Donald Trump was: “What kind of genius loses a billion dollars in a single year?”. That came after Trump’s tax returns from the 90’s were illegally released to the press. The irony has become that Hillary spent $1.2 billion on her presidential campaign, an amount which was now lost in a single year.
Matt Vespa wrote: Hillary Clinton and her supporters spent a record $1.2 billion for her losing presidential campaign — twice as much as the winner, Donald Trump, according to the latest records.
The president-elect, who confounded critics during the campaign by saying there was no need to raise or spend $1 billion or more, ended up making do with $600 million.
During the heat of the Presidential race Trump was heavily criticized for not having an organized ground game. Trump won his primaries with extremely limited resources, primarily utilizing the media to propagate his message.
Team Hillary spent over $130 million in the final part of the campaign, v.s. $94 million spent by the Trump campaign. In a unique election Trump’s unconventional approach was his strength. Hillary’s organization became synonymous with her image as the establishment. Her message was conveyed through campaign staff and surrogates in the media. Trump was his own greatest asset.
As it stands, Hillary has become a laughing stock. Her political career is over, fortunately. Her inner circle have lost their equity, their power being derived from their connection to her power.
