President-Elect Donald Trump has been having a difficult time lining up performers for his inauguration after Hollywood has created a climate where anyone who steps forward to associate with Trump will be blacklisted.
Rumors of any performer making themselves available have been followed by immediate and mass criticism. The climate that has been created has become so toxic that the bulk of performers who support Trump likely feel as if their careers would be too damaged if they were to perform.
Via DailyMail: The singer-and-actress has put herself forward as a potential performer for the January 20 ceremony in Washington to welcome Trump to the White House.
While Marie has not yet been asked to perform, the songstress told Yahoo! Finance: ‘I think when it comes to our country we need to unite.’
She added: ‘I think we should all support our president whether we’re happy or sad. This is America.’
A number of high-profile artists have declined invitations to perform at the event, including Celine Dion, Sir Elton John, Moby, Andrea Bocelli and most recently Rebecca Ferguson.
Osmond told YahooFinance: ‘We should come together and I think an Inauguration should be a time to unite, it really should.’
Some rumors have circulated that The Beach Boys would perform, as of now – there is neither confirmation nor denial.
Via DailyMail: A spokesperson for the Surfin’ USA hit makers said: ‘The Beach Boys have been asked to perform as part of the inauguration festivities. But no decision has been made at this point as to how or whether they will participate. We will let you know as soon as a decision is final.’
Why the performers are so reluctant is a controversy that is being overblown. One performer who stepped forward, Jackie Evancho, has seen her album sales quadruple since confirming she will be performing.
