BREAKING: The White House Releases Official Statement Regarding Barron Trump

The White House has issued a statement in response to the “Saturday Night Live” writer who mocked Donald Trump’s 10-year-old son Barron.

From the White House Press Office:

“It is a longstanding tradition that the children of Presidents are afforded the opportunity to grow up outside of the political spotlight. The White House fully expects this tradition to continue. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.”

That tweet in question was sent on Friday, during Trump’s inauguration ceremony, and drew widespread condemnation. The writer, Katie Rich, subsequently deleted the post (which said “Barron will be this country’s first homeschool shooter”) and deactivated her Twitter account. Her name did not appear in the closing credits of “Saturday Night Live” in its broadcast on Saturday.

On Monday afternoon, Rich reactivated her account and posted a message that said: “I sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet. I deeply regret my actions & offensive words. It was inexcusable & I’m so sorry.”

And we couldn’t agree more. Barron Trump didn’t sign up for this. In all honesty, I don’t think Melania Trump signed on for this either. Leave the kid alone. The SNL writer was TOTALLY out of line.
