In the aftermath of the President Trump’s inauguration on Friday, there have been numerous comparisons to the crowd size at Obama’s 2009 inauguration. Initially, the photos CNN put forth showed the Mall full and overflowing for the Obama’s 2009 celebration and sparse for President Trump’s induction to power. However, timing is everything. Fake news anyone?
As it turns out, the pictures from Obama’s inauguration were indeed indicative of a much larger crowd because they were taken while he was giving his inaugural speech. The photos CNN put out for Trump’s inauguration were taken roughly three hours before he actually took the stage. Nice fake reporting CNN! This is obviously not an apples to apples comparison of the turn out for our newly elected Commander-in-Chief.
Also noteworthy is that CNN’s article estimated that Obama’s 2009 inauguration had about 1.8 million in attendance and has now been amended to roughly 800,000. President Trump’s inauguration attendance was also estimated to be between 800,000 and 900,000.
While this obviously has no bearing on the outcome of the election, many people were pointing to it as a sign of our new President’s unpopularity. The left consistently does not want the facts to stand in the way of a good argument.
